Ding Ding ………..Round Two
Today I started round two of chemo treatments. Two weeks on, one week off again. I also have to go back to the Dr. on Monday to get a shot to help my bone marrow produce more white blood cells. Evidently from the lab reports of the last two weeks my white count got the crap knocked out of it due to the chemo. That is one of the reasons I felt so bad, as well as opening myself up to infections. My next off Friday will be the 16th of Feb. The week of the 19th I will get another CT to see how well we are doing at slowing this thing down. Looks like going to Florida that off week is not going to happen.
I am hearing from people that I haven’t heard from in years. It makes me realize that even though people may not keep in touch as much as everyone might like, they are still your friends and care about you. Thank you to everyone that has left messages. They really mean a lot to me and are very helpful with this struggle. I truely mean that with all my heart. I will try and make a response to your comments when able, but may not be able to at times.
If anyone wants to e-mail Sue or myself and not comment on the blog for some reason, that is fine. E-mail me at Skippyhawk@sbcglobal.net or bob.valentine@sbcglobal.net. Sue is s.valentine@sbcglobal.net.
It is because of the responses to this blog and the friends that I have that I feel like I am a very lucky guy. You are great people. I love you all.

Hope this round will be easier than last week!!!!! I’m sure you had a nice visit with your guests and sorry we missed seeing them… Maybe next week will be better at “The Office”….. Rest, milk and Oreo’s, The Office, double J, a hug from Sue = all the things doctor chuck says will make it better…. Of course, I would help you with these things but I have to be down here in Florida for awhile instead of up there freezing the boys off!!!!!!!! But, I’ll be back….
Always thinking of you both —— Chuck

Thanks for taking care of things in Florida for me. It is a dirty, rotton job, but somebody has to do it……….
Also there is talk that the oceans could raise 23″ by the year 2100. Look at what you have to look forward to. In a couple of hundred years you could have the “good” condo.

Bob,
Do not worry about not being able to go to Florida, I REALLY enjoy the cold weather. In Dallas this year we have had more snow and ice then I can remember… Granted I am the only one that enjoys it here and the ONE sand truck that Dallas and Fort Worth share is certainly getting used this year! Hopefully your treatments on round two will come and go before you know it. I am sure you will need to gets lots of rest inbetween them and you can go back to your job when they are over. As far as the Bronco’s, well hopefully you can still fit in your ole Bronco’s clothes… Lord, I could now be a linebacker for the Cowboys… It must be all the What-a-Burger because it certainly could not be the beer, vodka, or scotch that I seem to be warming up with lately!
Hang in there and tell Sue and Kelly hi for me!

Hi, Bob! Down here in rainy Florida, checking up to see how yesterday went for you. No golf today…it was thundering and pouring at our appointed tee time. So I guess we’ll just eat and drink. We came to town to help them break the long dry spell. Talk to you soon! Debbie M

Bob -
Hi! Here is an update from the “not so good” condo — it is cold, rainy, overcast and Chuck wore long pants and a jacket today! Now I know how cold it is in the Midwest but it is really chilly here. We even turned the heat on in the condo! Debbie is right that they did help us break the long dry spell but….enough is enough!
Glad to hear that this week is still OK for you!!! Take care.

Bob –
Here is a report from the “not so good condo” — it is cold, rainy, overcast and Chuck is wearing long pants and a jacket. Now I know that it is hard to be sympathetic with a 13 degree temp and snow falling but it is all relative! Debbie is right - the Mentgens came and broke the long, dry, sunny warm spell we were having.
Take care!

Good Morning, Skip,
I liked your message about old friends who are thinking about you because we really are. It’s been awhile since we have all been together but that doesn’t change how much we care.
I love all the messages from your friends in warm places! Did they all make lots of money gambling and have retired to Florida? Guess I should start going to the casino with you…maybe you could teach me a thing or two!
Sounds like you have a rough time ahead of you with round two of your chemo. As always, we will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Bob & Sue,
Hello. I hope things are going ok for you guys. I read Stephanie’s note about the lake trip and the resulting visits to the ER for you and Gene. I remember that afternoon vividly, although I don’t remember Steph’s dreadful bee sting. Well I just wanted to add my two cents and say that we are thinking about you and truly hoping your chemo treatments go well. “BLOG”…another four letter word I can add to my vocabulary. Nice.
Take Care

Hey there Bob,
Gina and I have moved to Texas since we last saw you, but please know that we’re thinking about both you and Sue a lot.
Please stay strong, and kick some ass on the poker tables!

I want to reply to Regina’s note about Stephanie’s dreadful bee sting. For years and years I was under the impression (from Stephanie) that the hurt leg came from my cigarette which fell and burnt her when I fainted. Its nice to know that I’m not responsible for the dreaded hurt. So Regina, I’m with you, first I heard of the bee.
Also just another remembrance of that wonderful day. If my memory serves me, Bob bled all over Brent and Mary Anne’s brand new car when Brent took Bob to the clinic. Nice way to christen the new vehicle. I’m not sure the Flethers ever got the bood stains out.
One more trip down memory lane of that fun day at the lake. When Gene got into the boat after a bad fall and said to me ” I think something’s wrong, will you look Sue?” And it looked like the alien coming out of his chest, I think I deserve some credit for NOT fainting then. Ok, is this when we look back and laugh??
